A Brief History
Cricket has always been a focal point in the village of Croston dating back to the 1870’s and has made its home within our facility since that time.
On 8th August 1960 Croston Sports Club was officially formed when two football teams Croston Celtic and Croston Rangers joined together with Croston cricket team to form one club for the community. The current clubhouse was purchased in 1976 and has been recently refurbished.

He has previously worked with junior county players under 10 age group, also assisting to run Lancashire county training sessions for the same age groups.Stuart has also assisted on Lancashire Tennis Talent ID Days where players are assessed Technically, Physically and Tactically. This gives him a great incite into Talent id and junior development upto county/ regional level. Stuart has also worked with and shadowed some of the best coaches in the county/region to further his knowledge base. it his belief that as a coach you never stop learning each pupil is different and the game is always growing so there is no time to stand and stare you must always adapt. Stuarts coaching philosophy is " you only get out what you put in!!" which is across all levels of play, time and effort put in is always rewarded in the long run.Stuart played the Lancashire county circuit as a junior acquiring an LTA Rating of 6.2 and also represented college in the north west college championships coming in 3rd place. On a personal front Stuart Was diagnosed at the age of 22 with a heart condition which had gone undetected could of been fatal. The Symptoms of which were heart Palpitations upto a rate of 260 beats per minute with some dizzyness and chest pains. in January 2009 and September 2011 Stuart underwent 2 separate heart procedures to correct the heart defect. This in turn has given him a new outlook and a determination that when things seem at their worst the things you love are more important and not worth giving up on. stuart's love for playing tennis and coaching was something that he didn't want to give up even when some people said stop!! whether it was just typical male stuborness or just out of stupidity. but if he hadnt of been exercising the sypmtoms might never of shown. It is with this reason That we support The Charity Cardiac risk in the young helping to make awareness known in all young sports players.
